High School Internships
The application form for 2024 internships has closed. Applications for next year will be accepted in January 20025.
If you are a junior or senior in a Yonkers public high school and are interested in a paid internship that will provide you with practical, hands-on work in the garden, we will be accepting applications in January 2025.
Through its Youth Horticultural Internship, the Conservancy engages local Yonkers youth in the restoration and stewardship of Untermyer Park and Gardens and exposes them to potential education and career pathways. The program runs in three sessions from March through October and offers paid internships to juniors and seniors who are enrolled in Yonkers public high schools. Working alongside professional gardeners, interns are introduced to fundamental principles of horticulture and environmental conservation. Interns maintain and improve various garden areas and are the primary caretakers of the new Ornamental Vegetable Garden and Orchard, participating in its full life cycle from seed to harvest. (8-30 hours per week, $16 per hour)
